Don’t forget to bring your camping gear (if you’re camping) including rain gear, flashlight or headlamp, water bottle, earplugs, bug dope, sunscreen, bathing suit. EVENT IS RAIN OR SHINE.
No dogs! We all love our fuzzy pals and colleagues, but there are too many reasons to list why they are not allowed at this year’s event. The exception is service animals who are on duty.
SEATING for some sessions is on the grass/ground/haybales so if you want more comfort feel free to bring a little folding chair, seat or seat pad.
Remember to bring cash for the Convergence Marketplace and the “pass the hat” from the band! The event will be host to talented vendors and authors showcasing a diversity of wares, but due to the limited nature of rural internet, do not count on cards to work.
OTHER THINGS TO BRING IF YOU CAN:
Musical instruments and talent show gear/props/costumes.
Homemade beverages (like kombucha, beer, mead, wine) for tasting during our Friday evening “Hooch ‘n’ Booch” and local beverages tasting.
Literature and information about your organization or business for the Info Tables
Work gloves/shoes/clothes in case you want to participate in some hands-on projects!
Natural materials for the all ages activities/art space (stuff like bamboo stalks and/or other building, materials, willow whips, fleece, jute, twine, or sinew, skins or cordage)
While meals, drinks and snacks are provided, you may want to bring along a supply of any special foods or snacks you typically require – especially if you’re the kind of person who gets snacky between meals!
Frisbees, soccer balls, etc. for free play
BARTERABLE items and a blanket – Bring things you’ve made like art, jewelry, instruments, metal or pottery or wooden items you’ve crafted, etc.
*** Some mobile phone carriers don’t have a good signal at D Acres so please don’t rely on your cell phone for 100% connectivity to the outside world. *** There is limited, unreliable wi-fi connection and electricity for phone charging in the main building.
FRIDAY NIGHT TALENT SHOW!
Continuing the tradition from the 2013 Convergence in Quebec, Friday night will feature a talent show drawn from our very own community! Do you sing, play music, do magic, or….???? When you arrive at Convergence there will be a clipboard to sign yourself up for Friday night’s show. Don’t be shy 🙂
Permaculture designers, bring some of your design work to pin up during our Saturday late afternoon, pre-supper Designers’ Lounge, “happy hour style.” All styles and skill levels welcomed and encouraged for discussion, feedback, and camaraderie!
It’s a Networking and Hangout Event for Established, New and Aspiring Permaculture Designers…
- Are you an experienced permaculture designer able to share an example of your work?
- Are you a newer designer looking for feedback on your work?
- Are you an aspiring designer looking for ideas on what different techniques can look like?
- Are you simply a PDC graduate looking to hang with some of your people?
- Do you have a super-snazzy ‘lounge’ outfit to dress-up in? Monocle? Fancy hat? Bring it! Bring your best lounge lizard game!
Then join us for a casual session we’re calling The Designers’ Lounge at the end of the day on Saturday (kind of a “happy hour” before supper). If you can join us, drop us a line and bring along a sample design or portfolio, supporting written materials (questionnaires, intake forms, establishment/maintenance plans, etc.), photographs of projects and anything else that would be fun to share and show off. Bring a cache of business cards to distribute to your compatriots and potential clients as well!
Woohoo! We can’t wait to see you!
